Coming To Alabama?
Residents in Alabama have decided that it is time that someone outside of the good old boys be allowed to run for state office. That is the reason behind a petition to bring a new casino to Alabama.

Apparently fed up with the dirty politics that has gone on with their Governor, Robert Riley, a group of residents in Montgomery have joined forces to defeat Riley in the next election. The only problem is none of the people have enough money to run against Riley.

Instead of taking to the normal backdoor efforts that politicians use to raise money, this group of residents has decided to try to fund their campaign with a new casino. Their proposal calls for a new 1,500 slot casino, where thirty-five percent of the revenue goes to their campaign. The other sixty-five percent would go to a local charity.

"If Governor Riley can pretend to be against gambling while funding his campaign with gambling interest money, why can't we," says group leader Barry Greeley, "if we can get enough signatures, we can have the casino built, and the money would then be available for one of our own to run against, and defeat Riley in the next election."

The only problem with the group's idea is that Riley is currently attempting to do away with all legal forms of casino gambling that exist in the state. He has started a task force to eliminate gambling halls that are taking away revenue from casinos he has a financial interest in.

Riley did not comment about the new casino petition, but a spokesman said that he heard Riley tell one of his associates that it would be a cold day in Hell before anyone outside of himself profits from gambling in Alabama.
