Rally Planned
Claiming that casino gambling has now become more popular in his state than religion, Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas has proposed a Bill that would turn all of the churches in the state into casinos.

"Why not? If they are going to just let people do what they want to do and we no longer are going to try and control them, then why not just do away with the churches," said Pryor, at a news conference introducing his Bill.

The move would actually benefit Arkansas greatly when it comes to the state budget. An independent study that was commissioned by the group Casinos All Across America, has indicated that up to $550 million a year could be raised in gambling taxes from churches turned into casinos. That is $550 million more than the churches currently pay in taxes.

Another reason that the idea makes sense to many lawmakers in Arkansas has to do with access to the state capital building. Without church groups rallying against something on the capital steps, lawmakers could actually get up the stairs and to work on time.

"There will be much less controversy in this state if we do not have to constantly worry about church groups protesting every issue," said Pryor, "with this Bill all we will have to worry about is problem gambling, and that's a hell of a lot easier to control than religious groups."

Experts believe that this Bill may be the first one ever to be unanimously passed by all members of the state Senate and House. Upon hearing the news of the new proposal, religious groups have already organized a rally at the capital at 9AM Friday morning. Actually, the group already had the rally planned, much like they do everyday, but now they have their issue of the day to rally against.
