Connected To Gambling? Slim Jim's have always been a favorite snack of truckers and hillbillies in Alabama, but now there is evidence that the popular snack is linked to another group of people-casino gamblers. Research shows that people who eat Slim Jim products are more likely to take part in casino gambling.
Researchers at the Opium Brews Center For The Outlandish have conducted a study that centers around the Slim Jim snacks. Over 200,000 people were picked to be part of the study. The first thing scientists did was give these subjects Slim Jim's at different times of the day.
The scientists then followed the subjects around for the next five hours after the Sim Jim's were eaten. Of the 200,000 people tested, 150,000 of them went to a casino at some point in the five hours after eating the Slim Jim's. The different types of Slim Jim's also produced varying levels of gambling behavior.
Fifty-five percent of those going to the casino lasted at least three hours at the casino after eating the Tabasco flavored Slim Jim. Conversely, the people that ate the standard Sim Jim stayed at the casino for an average of only one hour.
The study was done over a twelve week period and the subjects were all found by the scientists on the Las Vegas strip. Some of the people were vacationing, while others lived in the area.
