Lucky Quarter Gabriel Peters was just a normal thirty-four year old man who was having stomach problems on Tuesday afternoon. Peters was in and out of the bathroom all afternoon, claiming he may have had some form of food poisoning.
Much to his surprise on Tuesday evening, Peters, who was vomiting frequently throughout the day, threw up a quarter. The coin must have been consumed the night before when he ate out at a fast food restaurant.
Once the coin was out of his system, peters felt better. A couple of hours later, he went to a local casino in Detroit and decided to try his luck on the slot machines. At first, he had no luck, he lost the two hundred dollars he brought with him.
Then, remembering that he had thrown up the quarter earlier in the day, peters retrieved the coin from his pocket. he placed the coin in the Wheel of Fortune slot machine, and amazingly enough, he hit the jackpot, worth $240,000.
"I could not believe that this coin that had caused me to be sick all day ended up being lucky for me," said Peters, "I guess all of that throwing up paid off in the end."
The casino could not confirm whether anyone had ever won a jackpot with a coin that was thrown up before. They did say, however, that there is precedent for this type of jackpot.
Back in 2006, a man who was taking a dump pushed out a ten dollar bill that he had accidentally consumed. The Ten dollars was then put in a slot machine, and a $10,000 jackpot was hit.
