Easter Bunny And Santa Claus Representative Barney Frank has been courting some big players in US politics to back his proposed online gambling legislation. The two latest co-sponsors, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, may be Frank's biggest allies yet.
At a news conference from the North Pole on Wednesday, a spokesman for Santa Claus claimed that ole Saint Nick was in full support of Internet gambling legalization in the US. The Claus has already taken a similar stance in other countries where online gambling is illegal.
"Mr. Claus would like everyone to know that he is behind Rep. Frank 100%,' said spokesman Elf Hans, "Santa has always been about gambling. Kids betting on the idea that they have been good all year so they can receive a lot of presents. Gambling is fundamental to our society."
Hans went on to say that Santa would enjoy the lighter workload that came from legal Internet gambling in the US. The theory is that parents will spend too much money gambling online, leaving less money for toys, thus lightening the travel that Santa has to do on Christmas Eve.
The Easter Bunny has also co-sponsored the Bill. Representatives for the Easter Bunny could not be reached for comment, but they did issue a statement revealing their support for new online gambling laws in the US.
It is rumored that Rep. Frank has been in contact in recent months with the Tooth Fairy, Captain Crunch, and the Michelin Man in his efforts to gain support from a wide variety of industries.
