Living The Good Life Lab test rats are used by scientists all over the world to determine future human behavior, but for a scientist in Lebanon, one rat has led to fortune. Dr. Billy Brunwindle had one of his test rats win over $250,000 playing online poker last week.
Dr. Brunwindle was testing to see whether or not rats had the capacity to make educated decisions regarding the game of poker. He set up an online account at a poker site, and went to work.
The first thing Brunwindle did was set the rats up near the mouse for his computer. The rats would look at the screen, and when they felt that a move should be made in the poker game the doctor was playing, they simply tapped the right-click button on the mouse.
Four days into the experiment, Dr. Brunwindle started to believe the rats were better online poker players than humans. "Stacks," as one of the rats became affectionately known around the lab, was up $85,000 up until that point.
Dr. Brunwindle then allowed "Stacks" to play for the rest of the week, while the other rats were placed in line for another experiment. At the end of the week, "Stacks" had established a bankroll of $250,000.
According to sources inside the lab, "Stacks'" life has improved considerably since winning Dr. Brunwindle all of that money. There are even reports that the rat will travel with the doctor to Las Vegas for next year's World Series of Poker.
