Roulette Wheel An equal rights activist group is calling for the removal of the word black from roulette tables at casinos around the country. We Are African American wants the black spots on the roulette board to be known as "Dark" from now on.
The protest stems from a recent trip to Las Vegas by We Are African Americans founder Billie Brown. After losing on the poker tables most of the night, Brown wandered over to the roulette table and became offended when the wheel operator kept calling outy the winning numbers.
"Black 11, Black 20, Black 17, that's all I kept hearing all night," said Brown, "Finally, I realized that they were discriminating againt my race by calling the dark spaces black. I knew right then we had to organize against this racism."
The roulette wheel was not the only target of Brown that night. He reportedly was heard yelling at the dealers on his way out of the casino. It is unclear what he was yelling, because he was drunk, but observers claim he was yelling about the name "blackjack."
Ironically, the group had no problem when the African-American valet accidently called Mr. Brown by his wrong name. Upon receiving his car from the valet, the attendant yelled to Brown, "Have a nice night Mr. Black."
