"But I Wanted A REAL Boat, Daddy!" There is some reverse psychology that Las Vegas casinos are using on their customers leading up to the holidays. Instead of touting big jackpots that can be used for holiday gifts, the casinos are pushing for customers to help give employee families something special for Christmas.
In one of the more bizarre promotions that Las Vegas casinos have ever run, the goal of the casinos will be to tout how much money they can win from players. The promotion is called Hand Us Your Gift Money For The Holidays.
The advertising campaign for the promotion is one that all of the Las Vegas Strip casinos have chipped in for. They have put sayings on billboards such as, "Help Our Families Have A Nice Christmas On You."
The casinos have never been outspoken about their greed, but with the economic recession destroying revenue at the casinos, desperation has set in. This may be the year that little Johnny Jr. does not get that speed boat he has been wanting from his casino executive dad.
"We are just trying to ensure that our families enjoy the same advantages they always have for being part of the casino industry," said one executive who wished to remain anonymous, "If that means all the common folk has to gamble a little more and hurt their own children, then so be it."
So far, the promotion has not brought in much more revenue for the Las Vegas casinos, but it has pissed a lot of people off.
