No Jackpot For You!
A casino in Manitoba has denied a man a $350,000 poker bad beat jackpot after the gambler smiled. The casino claimed the smile was a violation of the etiquette laws in Manitoba.

John Berry was playing poker with his buddies on Friday night when he came across a pair of nines. Berry played the hand, limping into the pot. What happened next was a blur, but he acknowledged that it made him smile.

The flop came out A-J-10 of hearts, giving another player at the table the royal flush. The turn and river were a pair of nines. Berry went through all the betting process, and was shocked when he pushed all of his $1,100 in chips in, and was called.

After showing their cards, the players realized they had hit the bad beat, and both cracked a smile. Almost immediately, the casino manager came over and told Berry he would not be getting paid because of the smile.

"It is our responsibility to ensure that the least amount of payouts occur on jackpots at our casino," said Manager Billy Dwyer. "That is why we have come up with a massive amount of rules, making it virtually impossible for a gambler not to break one of them."

While Dwyer was rejoicing in the fact that the casino had screwed another winner, Berry left with nothing more than the soda that had been bought for him by the player with the royal flush.
